MAGELLAN is an open-source autonomous scientific discovery project operated by Kakashi Venture Accelerator Srl ("we," "us"), Via Sant'Antonino 17b, Torino, Italy (VAT: IT12781800011). Our website is magellan-discover.ai.

When you create an account or interact with MAGELLAN, we may collect:

• Account information — email address, display name, institution, ORCID identifier (all provided voluntarily during sign-up)
• Session data — IP address, user agent, and timestamps when you sign in (collected automatically for session security)
• Contributions — discovery sessions, hypotheses, and expert reviews you submit through the platform or CLI
• Usage analytics — anonymized page views and performance metrics via Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights (first-party, no cross-site tracking, no advertising)

• To authenticate your account and protect your sessions
• To attribute contributions to your public explorer profile
• To send transactional emails (sign-in links, application confirmations)
• To monitor site performance and fix errors
• To improve the platform experience

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers. We do not run targeted advertising.

• Vercel — hosting, analytics, and speed insights (privacy policy)
• Neon — PostgreSQL database hosting in the EU (Frankfurt) (privacy policy)
• Resend — transactional email delivery (privacy policy)

We use the following cookies:

• Authentication cookie (essential) — a session token (HTTP-only, secure, SameSite) that keeps you signed in. Cannot be disabled.
• Analytics (optional) — Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights collect anonymized page views and performance metrics. These are first-party with no cross-site tracking or advertising. You may opt out via the cookie banner.

• Account data — retained until you request deletion
• Auth sessions — expire automatically; inactive sessions are purged periodically
• Contributions — published hypotheses remain public as part of the scientific record; you may request removal of unpublished contributions

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and personal data
• Export your data in a portable format
• Withdraw consent for analytics at any time
